Inconel 625 also has a high degree of mechanical strength, hardness and toughness at low temperatures. Alloys 625 show excellent corrosion resistance to a variety of media. It shows excellent resistance to corrosion in many media, including chloride.

Inconel 625 Alloy is used widely in aerospace and chemical processing industries as a high strength material with excellent corrosion and oxidation resistence. Inconel 625 has excellent high tensile and corrosion fatigue strengths, and it also has excellent chloride stress cracking capability, which makes it an ideal choice for seawater use. Inconel 625 alloys have a non-magnetic nature and are suitable for grading ions of chloride. Nickel and chromium present in Inconel 625 give it excellent resistance to oxidation. Nickel and molybdenum protect alloys from non-oxidative erosion. Niobium stabilises the alloys, preventing sensitization when welding.
Process of manufacturing Inconel alloy 625
Inconel625 with less or no aluminum and titanium is usually melted using an electric arc or non vacuum induction furnace. If Inconel625 is melted with a high level of titanium and aluminum, it will be oxidized. Vacuum melting is the best option in that case as it allows for better control of the elements burning and gas and inclusions entering. Duplex smelting combined with secondary remelting is a good way to reduce the amount of inclusions, improve the distribution of inclusions and the crystallization structure of the ingot. Electric arc, vacuum, and non vacuum induction induction furnaces are used for smelting; vacuum self-consumption and electric slag are used as the primary remelting means.
